Thanksgiving update
Rachel had the croup. She woke up one Sunday at 3 am and had a fever. We babied her all day - finally after a long steam session, she took a 3 hour nap. Jacob and I went to his soccer end of season party and she slept, while Daddy stood watch. She woke up when we got home. I'm sure she heard our voices. It had been very quiet up to that point. She was struggling for air. I took her to the ER where she got a breathing treatment after a shot of steroid. By the following Friday she was back to a-ok. It was not fun.
I've been having headaches since Rachel was born. Not just in my head, but also down my spine. I can feel my spine. Which I couldn't previous to the epidural. I can't describe it very well. Since I have a history of pseudo tumor cerbri, they did an MRI on my brain. All is normal - except for my claustrophobia. That was terrible. They had to drug me and send me back the next day. I don't know what it is yet, I just know I don't want to live on advil.
Michael is beginning to really feel down about the job hunt. Even though there has been some interest in him and good interviews, the long term horizon just doesn't look good. He went to Pennsylvania - Pittsburgh to be exact. He visited with the nice folks at Duquense. They hired a candidate from a very qualified pool of candidates... blah, blah, blah. Michael interviewed with the Univ. of Texas. Yes, you read that right. It is not the school of business, rather the college of Education looking for a Marketing person. It pays like the college of Education, not the college of business. Which means I would have to work. Quite honestly, I'd rather work and see him happy, but he won't hear me. He wants me to stay home and raise the kids. Which I would love to do, but I need a happy hubby too.
Jacob is doing well. He's growing, reading, playing, like any good 7 year old boy should. I ordered some pants for him. All his pants are 3 inches too short!! Amazing what one year will do. Unfortunately they won't be here for a few more days, and then they will need to be shortened. It snowed on Thanksgiving, but will be gone in another day. The cold beat his pants here. He's getting very excited about gifts... we made some gifts to give and he's made a list of gifts he'd like..... he's got a long list from a catalog - it looks like the index of the contents!!
We didn't have company for Thanksgiving after all. My father-in-law's wife is ill. They opted to stay home. She's got cystic fibrosis and is a cancer survivor - so well is a relative term for her. She's 50 - which breaks every CF record. Maybe another time.
